ACTIVITIES OF YEAR 2016 – 17

1. SPECIMEN COLLECTION AT BARAK RIVER

OCTOBER 15 : The department first Semester and Sixth Semester Bsc students were given chance to collect specimen at Barak river. The team collected different fish species from the river.

2. STUDY TOUR AND FIELD TRIP.

DECEMBER 14: The study tour to Kolkata by the student of Zoology under the guidance of Sir Jayenta and Dr. Neli visited the ZSI, Kolkata. The staff and research scholar of ZSI, Miss. Jhikmik Dasgupta guided us to different sections of ZSI. The mammalian expert Dr. Debashri Dam, demonstrated the mammalian section where the extinct cheetah was also displayed. The experts of ENVIS (Environmental Information System) centre on Faunal Diversity spoke about the environmental issues based on fauna diversity in India. They presented the students with a booklet each of different phylums and pamphlets.

JANUARY 10: The department of Zoology organized one day field trip to Iroisemba Zoo, for the B.Sc 4th semester to study the ex- situ conservation method of wild life.

Future Plan



To engage the faculty members in research projects.

To publish annual magazine of the department regularly.

To organise Science National Seminar

Field trip to various industries to make a linkage with students for research work.
