ORIGIN OF THE DEPARTMENT
The department of English, Don Bosco College - Maram was established in the year 2000 under Manipur University/ The department has been functioning efficiently, producing a number of rank holders every year. The department has created history when the students of the department secured the first ten ranks in the BA III examination conducted by the Manipur University. The department also conducts various programs and organizes educational and short term tours in and out of Manipur at different times.

Activities
ACTIVITIES OF THE YEAR 2016 - 17
1. WEEKLY EVENT
In the department different activities are conducted every weekend, to harness the hidden talents and potentialities in the students. The students are divided into various groups namely Aristotle, William Shakespeare and Chaucer and they perform extempore speech, Elocution, Quiz, Western solo, Spelling Bee, Public speaking, self praising, Duet, Job interview, Talent show cum crowing of Mr. and Miss of English.
2. EDUCATION TOUR
December 13 to 19th: The students of the department accompanied by two lecturers went for a study tour to Kolkata. The major places visited were Science City, Nicco Park, Botanical Garden, Victoria Memorial and Howrah Bridge. The study tour does enrich the students minds to explore the unexplored.
April 7th to 9th: At the end of the sixth semester the department of English had a short term tour to Ukhrul. They spent whole day in Shirui peak and Phangrei, enjoying the beauty of the nature, recollecting the poems read by them during the course of their studies.
